Why take Personal Protection in the Home?
Why take Personal Protection in the home? An estimated 8,000 home invasions occur every day in North America affecting 1 out of every 5 households in our country!
Recently, in Scioto County, Ohio there has been a rash of home invasions leading residents to keep more guns for home security saying it’s either shoot or be shot according to The Portsmouth Daily-Times newspaper.
Some facts about these home invasions are striking. One bold home invader broke into the home of the former Scioto County Sheriff at 1:02 in the afternoon. He was shot by the former Sheriff and fled.
In another case in Scioto County, residents described the home invaders as looking like ninja assassins, dressed all in black, wearing masks and toting guns.
This description of the home invaders is more typical than not as the bad guys dress not only to conceal their identity, but to be less detectable during hours of darkness. And, they often carry guns when they invade the homes of innocent victims.
Home invaders look for easy prey when planning a home invasion. They seek drugs such as fentanyl and oxycodone which are prescribed to terminally ill cancer patients who are not strong enough to defend themselves without the help of a firearm. Older people are also targeted where the home invader hopes to score money and jewelry.
Are there areas that are more prone to crime than others? Certainly there are. But, crime knows no boundaries. Recently, crime has been showing up in Central Ohio in neighborhoods that never experienced it before. There is literally no place that is absolutely safe from crime anymore.
