Mid-Ohio Firearms Training Academy

The participants of the Defensive Handgun Level 1 & 2 were put through their paces at MOFTA on Sept 10 & 11, 2011.  These students had a great attitude and shot well during the two intense days at the range.  This class was put to the test with several stressful and challenging dynamic exercises that placed them in situations in which they had to apply the skills that they had learned to fluent and rapidly changing scenarios.  They did will and learned a whole lot!  Congratulations to the participants in Defensive Handgun Level 1 & 2.  You earned your stripes!

The August 20, 2011 NRA Personal Protection in the Home class learned dynamic exercises and drills to navigate the confines of their home in defense of it and their loved ones.  This was  a great class that not only performed enthusiastically at the range but participated in the classroom as well.  They are pictured with their NRA certificates at the conclusion of the range session.

Five armed men broke into a home in a wealthy North Branford neighborhood, tied up the family for hours and threatened to kidnap a 3-year-old boy in the house if they didn’t get money, police said Monday.

MOFTA participated in the City of Columbus National Night Out Kick Off Event for city wide Block Watch organizations. The event was held at the Far East Recreation Center in Columbus. MOFTA’s booth is pictured here.  There was a good turn out for a hot, humid summer day and many people stopped by the MOFTA booth for materials on MOFTA’s Civilian Personal Defense program and NRA Eddie Eagle Gun Safe Program for kids.

The June 3-4, 2011 NRA Instructor Pistol Shooting Course sponsored by Mid-Ohio Firearms Training Academy graduated the largest class since MOFTA began offering the course less than one year ago.  The class was full of instructor candidates from varied backgrounds who were inquisitive in the classroom and good shots at the range.  The entire MOFTA Instructor staff congratulates the class for a job well done. MOFTA assisted the Simon Kenton Council, BSA with their adult leadership training event on Saturday, May 21, 2011.

The Powder Horn Event, as it is called, provides adult Scouting leaders the opportunity to experience and learn about a variety of activities that are a part of the Scouting program.
