Defensive Handgun Level 1

CHL CPD Logo jpeg2 150x150 Defensive Handgun Level 1Train to strengthen the basic skills learned in your Basic Concealed Handgun License
class and/or learn new techniques to enhance your personal defense handgun tactics.

You will shoot a minimum of 600 rounds across one 8-hour day (Saturday). 600 rounds
will get you through the course, however you will have plenty of opportunity to shoot
more, up to 700 or 800 rounds. So, bring what you want. You will practice techniques
and tactics shooting at metal plate targets. You will fire many shooting drills, starting
with stationary single shots on single targets, progressing through multiple shots on
multiple targets from a stationary position to firing multiple shots on multiple targets
while moving forward and backwards and side-to-side.

With our timing and scoring system, you will be able to monitor your progress through
the 8-hour day of shooting.

You will run through drills to help strengthen your use of cover techniques and
verbalization skills. We will move towards cover, verbalize while drawing, use cover
and fire at single and multiple targets.

We will work on reloading and malfunction techniques. We will refine your grip and
stance to help you put rapid-fire repeat shots on target.

With the use of our metal plate targets (reduced silhouette targets) you will have little
wait time, and you will spend most of your time on the firing line, shooting (and/or
reloading your magazines or speed loaders).

You will learn close quarters shooting techniques in close proximity with other shooters.

You will leave this day with a sense of accomplishment and the true feeling that you have
improved your shooting skills and feel your confidence with your handgun building.

A good holster, belt, spare ammo device carrier (mag pouch), at least two spare ammo
devices (magazine or speed loader, two or more is recommended) eye and ear protection
is mandatory. Unless prior arrangements are made with MOFTA, you will need to
provide your own hearing and eye protection.

To ensure a good instructor to student ratio this class is limited to 15-students.
Additional classes may be added if interest merits.

Class fee is $150.00 ($140.00 if paid in full online) per student, with a $75.00 non-refundable deposit required to hold
your slot in the class. Balance due at the beginning of class on Saturday. You must
supply your own ammunition (minimum of 600 rounds, you will have ample opportunity
to shoot up to seven hundred rounds, or more) Any hard ball full metal jacket, such as
Winchester’s: White Box” ammunition is acceptable. No ammunition will be provided
by MOFTA.

Class will be held from 08:00 to 17:00 (5:00 PM) with a 1-hour break for lunch. Class
will be held on Saturday at a private outdoor range in southern Delaware County,
about 10-minutes north of I-270. We will shoot rain or shine, so come with proper
clothing for any possible weather. You will get detailed directions with your enrollment
confirmation.

Come ready to have a good time, learn good techniques and tactics and do lots of
shooting.
