Changes instituted by the Ohio Peace Officers Training Academy no longer requires that the Web Check form be submitted to the school commander prior to the class.  This allows student to enroll on the first day of a class if they want.  Applicants must still pass a background check to be certified by the state to carry a firearm as an armed security officer.

PRIVATE SECURITY FIREARMS QUALIFICATION TRAINING – 20 Hours

This course meets the State of Ohio requirements to allow a private security officer to go “on duty” armed.  The course is a combination of classroom and actual range experience.  A written test is required as well as qualifying on the shooting range.  Our course will take you beyond the minimum and teach you sound tactics that are invaluable in a potential lethal situation.

PRIVATE SECURITY FIREARMS RE-QUALIFICATION – 4 Hours

This class is designed for those that are required to renew their State of Ohio Armed Private Security license.  Approximately one hour is spent in the classroom reviewing current law affecting private security officers and the rest of the time is spent on the shooting range.

Class Fees:

  • 20 Hour Firearms Certification – Fee: $210.00

  • 4 Hour Firearms Re-Qualification – Fee: $90.00

STEP 2 – Payment:

You have two options for payment for the Private Security Training:

You can pay online below or you can send a 50% deposit or payment in full, in a check or a money order to “MOFTA” at 7065 Huntley Rd. Columbus, Ohio 43229. If you choose to make a 50% deposit to lock in your space the class, the balance for the remaining 50% of the fee is due on the first day of class.
